On the corner of Fillmore and Sacramento in SF there is a new age hipster in town. Evolution Fresh – Health food and juice shop. So what’s in their ‘juice’ you ask…Well, here’s what they had to say about themselves.
The first of its kind to California (or outside their home state for that matter) their heritage can be traced back to the Golden State a direct descendant of Starbucks. Yep, Starbucks has gone green, literally - what is it with these guys and energy boosting? In hindsight, if health food is appearing in chain form, Americas headed for greener pastures and smaller waistlines. I give this newbie a thumbs up. Good marketing, good atmosphere, good eats, and good for you. Check them out, see if its your type of squeeze. Track them down and taste for yourself.
Much love!

You do! Here are some fabulous gifts to worthy to stuff your stockings, to wrap under the tree, to gift on a night of Hanukkah, or simply give, just to give, your covered (insert: Thank’s E!).

My heart skipped a beat when I set my eyes on these little accessories. Firstly I love my beats headphones. I take them EVERYWHERE I travel. They drown out the noise of crying babies, business people having conferences on the plane, I even put them on not listening to music so I can sleep. Now these…(sigh) This is the ONLY type of headphone that I wear working out (I sweat a lot) and with the added bonus of them being beats. Well… enough said.
Heres the specs.
Flexible earclips are designed to secure Powerbeats earphones in your ears no matter how rigorous your workout. Sweat-resistant materials and ear tips of all sizes keep you comfortable always.
Powerbeats earphones are the only Beats by Dr. Dre earbuds that come with two speakers inside each bud. That means you get crystal clear highs and deep, rumbling lows in high definition.
Powerbeats earphones are specially designed to pump clear bass at any volume while letting in ambient noise – making sure athletes stay safe while running on the road.
You can adjust your music to find your power song right from the cord. No need to fumble with your MP3 player during your workout.
I havent gotten myself a birthday present as of yet. Don’t mind if I do!
If you want em’ they are limited edition, so step on it. BEATS.

36 hours prior to the 2012 ING New York City Marathon, Mayor Bloomberg canceled the race amid valid criticisms that valuable resources would be siphoned off; resources desperately needed in the city’s recovery from Superstorm Sandy.
1,300 registered runners were hardly discouraged from boarding the Staton Island Ferry towards the starting line. Dressed in orange (as they would for the ING Marathon) runners entered an entirely different kind of race. The anxiety and jitters of a true marathon were replaced by an overwhelming sense of community as they carried backpacks filled with supplies to those in need.
In this race, no one crossed the finish line or set a personal best. Well…maybe one person, Dr. Jordan Metzl, a sports-medicine physician at New York City’s Hospital for Special Surgery who organized the runners over Facebook. The destruction of Superstorm Sandy needs more ‘runners’ and a crowd to cheer them on.
If you want to help take steps in the right direction by aiding in the recovery of Superstorm Sandy see the below links.

CHANEL’s seaside themed Spring 12 campaign by Karl Lagerfeld (creative director) campaign featuring Models Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls. The chute location is sun drenched shots capture the models frolicking near the ocean at France’s Hôtel du Cap Eden Roc, France, and in the nearby Mediterranean waters.
In gymnastic-inspired poses shots are captured, Andrea Perry’s soundtrack, ‘If you come over’, playful antics harmonize with the acoustics. The seaside gymnastic theme contrasts with the dramatic tailoring and feathered outfits, adding a certain femininity to the scene. The final shots characterized the dramatic story compared to the soft whimsical making of the video (which can only be defined as Chanel). Chanel yet again raises the bar on high fashion.
A MVP in the blogsphere Coco and Kelly. I’ve been following this team’s game-time stats on these guys for over two years! They are always on their A Game. Another example is Cristina Cleveland’s blog post on October 11, 2012 – GET THE LOOK: GAME TIME. read blow for the full post!
First it was baseball caps, then sneakers; if you didn’t know any better you’d think I was sporty or something! Cristina here, and alas I am not that at all. I guess I just enjoy a good menswear-inspired look! Whether you’re a bona fide fan or you just have a weakness for the uniform, here’s plenty of inspiration.
If you’re looking for ways to work your team’s gear with sartorial flair, limit yourself to just one piece (so skip the cap and sneakers). These ladies mixed in feminine touches like boots, skirts, even stilettos.
MVP goes to… Coco & Kelly!
(Sigh)… It’s a breath of fresh air when a new brand surfaces. The Moncler puffer jacket has been a staple on fashionistas Holiday wish lists for some time. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Moncler. One of my favorites for more than several reasons. However when everyone girl walking down the street has on an identical jacket, it’s becomes… whats the word…mainstream? So Jcrew, the talent scouter’s that they are (Mickey D, who is way ahead of the game) brings a ‘meticulously curated collection, based on quality, craftmanship, and of course cool factor’, dubbed ‘in good company’. I love, love, love what JCrew is doing here. It would be just as easy for JCrew to knock off any of these products (if no patton prohibits) creating an exact replica – adding a JCrew tag. Brand collaboration and good old-fashioned curation, pairing the company with talented designers with solid product and bringing them on to ‘the Crew’.
Back to the (sigh)… and enter Authier. The company originated in Switzerland in 1910, this Italian brand of “chic sportif” is synonymous with elegance and innovation (it was among the first to offer skis when the sport was taking off in the early 20th century). The ready-to-wear collection transfers the craftsmanship and technology of its skis to clothing that’s made in Italy and coveted by ski enthusiasts and fashion aficionados alike. Authier’s devotion to materials extends right down to the zippers (also made in Italy) and the label, which is stitched by hand.
Good work Crew. Giving us something to sigh about.
took off at Union Square, San Francisco. 7:00AM
through the streets of San Francisco.
and some ridiculous cool race day loot. Can anyone say Tiffany’s (turquoise box white ribbon boxes on silver trays were distributed along the course)?
Nike Women’s Marathon raises funds and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Nike celebrated their ninth year at the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco! Nike Women’s Marathon is the largest woman’s marathon in the world although (male runners participated as well). The 26.2 mile certified marathon course as well as a half-marathon distance race of 13.1 miles was difficult and hilly (SF no?!? Hills?!?!) but were offset by SF’s beautiful breathtaking views. At Union Square the runners set off and finished along the Pacific Ocean. The event raises funds and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Congratulations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society along with each runner, their supporters, and the volunteers who helped make this race a success in the battle against Leukemia and Lymphoma.
Workout space is an important element in the perfect workout. As merging gap between fitness and design merge a multitude of gyms that are well… breathtaking in both the aesthetic sense along with the good ole’ increased heart rate – directly correlated with a good sweaty workout. The latest example of ‘good pysique design’ emerges at the Plaza hotel in NYC. La Palestra wellness centers have conceptualized a hybrid of proper medical care with fitness in an upscale facility without disrupting the indigenous elements of their respective locations. The mission of La Palestra health centers focuses on integrated health.
Designers Frank Gehry, La Palestra delivered a holistic haven of wellness, consisting of exam rooms and cardio center accessed through a stunning Gehry staircase. Despite the facilities opulent feeling occupying the space, the function of the space remains in tact, a functional, classic gym.
Pat Manocchia Founder of the La Palestra chain conceptualized a space where fitness and health of the human body remained safe and secure. Each space is designed individually catering to the original fabric of architecture.
“Culturally, from an exercise perspective, people are made to believe that the idea of beauty is that it’s flawless,” says Manocchia in pointing out an interesting parallel, “but it’s the exact opposite. The flaws are what makes something beautiful.”
Using the space presents architectural challenges. Variations in ceiling height were exploited to create alcoves of light that aid in one of Manocchia’s central ideas, which is privacy. The placement of equipment and room-dividisions are laid out to create the right environment for optimal performance.
If one feels as though they are being observed or judged, or crowded, your focus shifts towards your self-conscious of how you look rather than focusing on what you are doing. Individual bathrooms (complete with shower) take the place of locker rooms contain individual showers, dressing room with wardrobe built in. Another common gym staple you wont find here is floor to ceiling mirrors – mirrors are situated away from the wall to prevent feeling boxed in, while lights shine with very specific variants to reflect times of day and year.
It’s no surprise that this gym contains the highest quality equipment, from top-of-the-line Woodway and Cybex treadmills to artisan-made vaulting boxes Manocchia seeks to support the most important design element in fitness—the human body. “When it comes to innovation in the field, it’s not about reinventing the wheel or inventing something new, it’s about how good design is re-engineered to support the human body,” he says. “You have to understand how the body works so you can utilize equipment that fits into movement patterns and provides a broad toolbox. Dumbbells can be used for all sorts of things, and are you going to make something better? No. We’re interested in the best-made version.”
The breadth and depth of La Palestra’s medical and training attention—makes it the logical choice for those with health concerns or injuries, or anyone looking for a superior level of care integrated into their fitness routine. A training session comes accompanied with the message that techniques and routines should be learned, and are designed for members to take away and practice on their own.
The Palestra Gym truly takes your daily workout to a whole new level.
Now… What to wear?
Off to shop – pre workout warmup?
